Sending SMS on a Verizon Phone

• 1). Access SMS messaging on the phone. Each Verizon phone has its own set of instructions on how to find and use this function. Most require your to select a "Compose SMS" button within the function's menu.
  
  
• 2). Locate the recipient's phone number from the phone's contacts database and select that contact. Many phones have a drop-down menu with contacts listed, but if the person is not on the list, the phone number must be dialed directly.
  
  
• 3). Compose the message to be sent to the recipient. Text messages on Verizon phones have a 160-character limit due to data byte transmission limitations. Longer messages can be broken into multiple SMS messages for transmission.
  
  
• 4). Click the "Send" command to execute the message. Most phones will alert you when the message has been successfully sent.
