    • 1). Install subtitle ripping software. SubRip is a good freeware choice.

    • 2). Insert the DVD that you want to rip the subtitles from. Then open SubRip and use the "open" function to expand the DVD's contents.

    • 3). Find the .ifo file in the DVD and load it into the program. Once the different subtitle lists populate window, select the one you want to extract and click the "OK" button. You can only extract one subtitle file at a time.

    • 4). Verify type and font. Since subtitle encoding uses a different code set from type and font on other electronic media, verify how a specific image corresponds with a letter. However, you will only need to do this once for each letter that the program cannot immediately decode.

    • 5). Wait for the file to extract. Once finished, the subtitle file will extract to SubRip's output file and will be available for use with other videos.
