How to Update a Modem Driver
- 1). Download the latest version of modem drivers from the Internet. They typically can be found on the modem manufacture website or elsewhere. Make sure you download the drivers for your model of the modem.
- 2). Log in to the administrator account in Windows Vista.
- 3). Click "Start" at the lower left corner of the screen and then click "Control Panel."
- 4). Click "Hardware and Sound" and then "Device Manager."
- 5). Expand the entry "Modems" by clicking on the "+" sign. Right-click on your modem name and choose "Uninstall." Click "OK" to confirm. Then click "OK" again to restart your computer.
- 6). Log in again to the administrator account and open Windows Explorer.
- 7). Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the driver file saved in Step 1 and double-click on it to start installation of the new modem drivers. Restart the computer when prompted.
