How to Clean Mortar vs. Silicone from Glass Blocks
- 1). Wash your hands thoroughly in warm or hot water with soap to remove residual mortar from your hands. Cleaning the blocks with mortar-covered hands only makes the problem worse.
- 2). Dampen a sponge with warm water. You do not need to add soap to the sponge to clean up the mortar.
- 3). Wipe the glass surfaces with the damp sponge to remove the excess mortar. Turn the sponge regularly, or replace the sponge, to ensure that you always have a clean area on the sponge to work with.
- 4). Buff the clean blocks with a clean, dry rag. This removes any streaks or smears left behind from the sponge.
