Natural sunlight is the safest and best way to get your vitamin D, although the experts told us to cover up and avoid the sun.
These experts also tell us to religiously apply plenty of sunscreen, actually encouraging us to increase the risk of cancer and not to avoid or lower it.

Tests have shown that with greater sun exposure melanoma has decreased.
On the contrary, skin cancer and melanoma have increased when using sunscreens.
European studies have also confirmed that melanoma is more common in indoor workers than outdoor workers exposed to full sun.
The sun is by far more important to our daily lives than we realise.
Our body can through sunlight exposure produce vitamin D and optimize vitamin D levels that are preventing many types of cancer, including melanoma.
For optimal health and the benefit of vitamin D has only been realised over a decade ago.
Transformed from sunshine this vitamin is a steroid hormone that influences almost every cell in our body.
Vitamin D is also nature's strongest cancer fighter provided by the sun.
A study by international research scientists and experts in vitamin D found as much as 30 percent in cancer deaths could be prevented each year with higher levels of vitamin D intake.
Correct Exposure to Get Proper Dosage! There are some very important factors as far as proper exposure can work.
We have to understand that ultraviolet light comes in two different forms, UVA and UVB, and there are different risk factors between the two of them.
UVB is the healthy one, the one we need to help our body to produce the most needed vitamin D.
UVA is the unhealthy one.
The rays of UVA penetrate our skin more deeply and cause free radical damage no matter what time of day.
A common myth is that the sun is most dangerous at the middle of the day.
Contrary to most people's belief this is the best time to maximise your vitamin D intake in the shortest time and less risk of over exposure.
To optimize your vitamin D level intake it is necessary to expose large portions of your skin or body to the sun.
It also depends on the colour of your skin.
Fair skin will need less of exposure than dark skin.
You should never let yourself get burned! Get out of the sun before the skin turns pink or red.
For some people 20 to 40 minutes would be enough of exposure.
Once you reached a certain point your skin will not make any more vitamin D.
Overexposure will only damage your skin, although some people will need more than others.
Too much sun will damage and age your skin faster.
Get out in the sun as often as you can, but do it sensibly.
For longer periods of outdoor activity you should use only toxin free sunscreen cream which is available to protect your skin from damaging UVA rays.
At a certain time of the year when the proper amount of sunshine is of short supply another option is vitamin D supplements.
You should have your vitamin D level checked for any deficiency.
If the vitamin level is low than use only the oral form of vitamin D3 and not the far inferior vitamin D2.
Use every opportunity; get out in the sun and fresh air, you body needs the sun.
For the important vitamin D level and general health the right amount of sun exposure is important but do it sensibly.
