Can we believe everything that is claimed by some of the registry cleaner promotional websites? While some will give you a more factual reading of what to expect from running a registry cleaner, others lay claim to some rather outrageous benefits to be gained from using their products, and it's hard to know how much you can trust in them.
Can using registry cleaner software really fix a slow running computer? Putting aside the myths and misrepresentations, I'm afraid there is still no absolute answer to that question.
It's very much a case of it depends, and maybe..
if.
Registry cleaning software can certainly solve a lot of PC problems, and will, in most cases be all that's needed to fix a slow running computer.
Whether or not it will cure the problem you need sorting can sometimes only be answered by giving it a go.
Basically registry cleaners work by clearing out the unnecessary and incorrect data that builds up in the computer registry over time.
All the fixes it produces come about as a result of this weeding operation.
Often, this unneeded information isn't doing anything but taking up a little space in the registry, and will be causing only minimal speed issues.
On the other hand these registry entries can become so corrupted that they will be causing significant issues.
You may find that some programs run very slowly, or that they initiate and then hang at a certain point, never completely loading.
Sometimes you may be getting the dll.
error messages for no apparent reason, even instability to the point of freezing, or crashing.
The registry is in effect the brain of your PC.
Whenever you use a program it will call on the registry for the necessary data.
  • Information on the files needed
  • Execution commands
  • Which drivers are allocated
  • Where to find the data
  • How to pull it together
  • All these things and more are dependent on the registry
So a small number of problem entries in the registry may be no big deal, but many minor problem entries, or a few severe corruptions could have serious consequences on the running of the computer.
When data is called up on loading a program these problematic registry entries may cause any of the effects we mentioned earlier, and more.
So can you really fix a slow running computer with registry cleaner software? Without knowing exactly what problems you are experiencing with your PC it's impossible to say whether a registry cleaner will definitely cure them.
But if you are having problems that might be fixed with registry cleaning software, or one of the very useful extras and optimizers that come with some of them, I would strongly recommend trying it out.
My answer must be a qualified "yes" To fix a slow running computer installing and using a reliable registry cleaner should be a good start.
It's a good idea to include a registry cleaner among your regular maintenance tools anyway, if you want to ensure optimum performance over the long term.
Avoiding the build up of registry errors should go a long way to avoiding future problems, and keeping your computer flying.
