Oftentimes we wonder, how does the secrets of hypnosis works? How can it cure both medical and psychological related diseases? Or is it safe to perform? But time has gone so fast, that new researches have been conducted in the quest to find the truth of what hypnosis can really do.
These researches delved even deeper, as recently there is a research about what happens to a person's brain when it is hypnotized.
With the advent of the technological advances we have nowadays, it is not surprising to know that this kind of studies has led into some fascinating observations.
The recent study aims to identify the neurological changes happening in the brain when a person is under hypnosis and before any hypnotic suggestions are given.
In a paper submitted by Dr.
David Oakley and Dr.
Peter Halligan of University College London they referred to three diverse studies designed to ascertain potential neurological differences connecting between the conditions of a person without any hypnosis and neutral hypnosis.
With the aid of PET scanning technology, one study found, on the contrary to state of no hypnosis, there exists a coordinated activity between the areas of the brain which includes the brain stem, the right inferior frontal gyrus and the right lower parietal lobule.
Another study established evidence that the brain's actions corresponding with the decrease in theoretical spontaneous thought, at the same time as, using EEG readings.
Meanwhile their third study found some disturbance in typical communication among the cognitive systems.
Both doctors involved, Oakley and Halligan added that despite such findings there is still a need to do more research as they pointed out that neurological changes do materialize in the neutral hypnotic state of a person.
The statistics points to some alterations made in to the diverse cognitive systems of the brain in correspondence to neutral hypnosis.
The secrets of hypnosis have served as an interesting topic in research especially in the study of extraordinary neurological conditions.
These rare conditions include the cases of panic-stricken blindness, frantic paralysis and visual neglect wherein a person has awareness of only half of its vision.
Normally, these circumstances are only experience by patients with severe psychological related disorders such as persons suffering from schizophrenia.
It is only through the induction of the signs manifested by a schizophrenic with the means of hypnosis that the researches deem to fully understand what the brain is experiencing during such conditions.
Recent findings that there are some similar activities in the brain of a hypnotized subject and a real patient suffering from schizophrenias well as there are also some differences.
For now, the usefulness of these kinds of researchers remains to be seen.
But one thing is for sure, despite the fact that these kinds of studies is relatively new, more and more related studies will be conducted.
The advancements in the technology will serve as an aid to be able to truly explain and enlighten the community about the secrets of hypnosis and its very nature.
