How to Upgrade My Chevy Silverado's Speakers
- 1). Roll up the windows on the Silverado then disconnect the negative battery cable with a wrench.
- 2). Pry the trim bezels off off the door's inner trim panel with a flat trim stick. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the window/lock controls after also prying them off with the trim stick. For a manual window handle, rub a rag behind it to disconnect the clip.
- 3). Unscrew all the trim panel's mounting screws with a screwdriver then work the trim stick around the edges of the inner trim panel to detach it from its clips. Lift the panel off the door.
- 4). Remove the single screw holding the speaker in place, pull out the speaker and disconnect its electrical connector. On some older Silverados, the speakers have a mounting tab that you'll need to press to detach the speaker.
- 5). Mount the new speaker in place, making sure its lower mounting flange fits with the lower edge of the door's mounting hole. Connect the electrical connector and fasten it in place with the screw or mounting tab.
- 6). Reconnect the door trim panel along with its trim bezels.
- 7). Repeat the process for all the door speakers.
